How it works:

Each of these pages uses the same setup. Whether you visit the location in person or prefer to explore from the comfort of your couch, I want you to be able to stand in the same footprints as the original photographer. Achieving this takes time, research, and many photographs taken on location to determine the correct distance, angle, and placement.

Since most of these original images are well over 100 years old, the passage of time and modern development have changed some of these original vantage points.

One of my favorite features is using Google Maps and Street View to take a quick look around and explore the area. While this isn't possible for every page, in those cases I include a 360-degree panoramic image or another interactive format to give you an enjoyable way to explore the location.
