Project #20 - Star Rock
A great shot from the North canyon, overlooking the town, you can see Saloon #10 in the lower corner.
If you work your way off main street and up the North hill along the bluffs you’ll find Star Street, you can drive it about halfway before it starts to get a little washed out, and that’s where the fun starts on foot through the woods.
This was actually my first project, where I got the idea to use GPS and my skill set to do something different.
This one has little documentation in the historical record beyond the fact that it was a spur road connected to the original Centennial Road layout in 1891.
I have returned to this rock several times, and like everything in nature, it changes over time. The last time I was here, a group of trees had fallen across it; however, given time, it will likely become visible again.
Fun Nuggets:
Star Road, not passable with a car, you're on foot from here.
